Manual butterfly valve is a commonly used valve used for control and regulation in pipeline systems. There are two main sealing methods: hard seal and soft seal, which have obvious differences. This article will introduce the hard seal and soft seal of manual butterfly valve and explore the difference between them.

The hard seal of manual butterfly valve means that the sealing surface of the valve is made of metal material by pressing or turning to achieve the sealing of the valve. This sealing method is usually used in high pressure, high temperature and corrosion resistance. The advantages of hard seal are good sealing performance and long service life, which are suitable for high pressure, high temperature and corrosion resistance. However, hard seal also has some disadvantages, such as high hardness, poor wear resistance, easy wear and scratch, and is not suitable for use in conditions of large friction and wear.

Manual butterfly valve soft seal means that the sealing surface of the valve is made of polymer materials or rubber and other materials through vulcanization or bonding to achieve the sealing of the valve. This sealing method is usually used in low pressure, medium pressure and normal temperature occasions. The advantages of soft seal are good elasticity and good sealing performance, which are suitable for low pressure, medium pressure and normal temperature occasions. However, soft seal also has some disadvantages, such as poor wear resistance, and is not suitable for use in conditions of high friction and wear.

The differences between the hard seal and soft seal of manual butterfly valve are mainly in the following aspects:
1. Sealing performance: Hard seals have better sealing performance and are suitable for high pressure, high temperature and corrosion resistance occasions; while soft seals have poorer sealing performance and are suitable for low pressure, medium pressure and normal temperature occasions.
2. Service life: Hard seals have a longer service life and are suitable for high pressure, high temperature and corrosion resistance situations; while soft seals have a shorter service life and are suitable for low pressure, medium pressure and normal temperature situations.
3. Applicable occasions: Hard seals are suitable for high pressure, high temperature and corrosion resistance occasions; while soft seals are suitable for low pressure, medium pressure and normal temperature occasions.
In short, the hard seal and soft seal of manual butterfly valve have their own advantages and disadvantages, and the appropriate sealing method should be selected according to the specific use requirements. In high pressure, high temperature and corrosion resistance, hard seal should be used; in low pressure, medium pressure and normal temperature, soft seal should be used.
